Do you ever wonder about the Reflections of a Dog? I caught Riley sitting in her bed in deep thought this week and luckily I was able to capture the moment. Does she know that we are finished with school this semester? Does she think about how hot it is outside? Or does she wonder when the next treat is coming? I think that a lot of us as dog parents, owners, guardians or what ever you like to be called have wished at some point or another our animals could talk to us. Though I do wonder if they could, would they lose their innocence?
We are so happy to be participating in this weeks Wordless Wednesday hosted by Blogpaws. Be sure to check out all the wonderful bloggers below who are also joining in today’s hop!

From what I observe with our dogs, I don’t think they reflect, I think they are observing. Sounds, smells, movement … everything. It doesn’t become obvious unless something different happens. Different sound, change in routine. Maybe they do reflect sometimes but to me it seems they are being watchful of the world around them.
Would they lose their innocence if they could talk? I’m certain they would not. Though sometimes it might depend on the definition of innocence 😉

very interesting insights…I guess it would depend on the definition. I know all my littles view life differently than Riley, as Riley came to me as a puppy and all the rest are rescues… they know the truth about the world or the bad parts they have experienced.

That’s a wonderful photo of your little one lost in thought. I love trying to translate what my Sadie is thinking or trying to say. I think that’s a fun part of being a pet parent – bonding enough with your animal to understand them when they try to communicate. But sometimes I wish they could speak. Sadie had a tummy ache this week and I knew she wasn’t feeling well, but I wish she could have told me what’s wrong so I would know what to do to fix it.

You are so right… the bonding we share enables us to help them a lot…. sorry about Sadies tummy ache. 🙁

That is some mighty deep thinking Miss Riley! Since the characters in my books are based on my pets, and people returned in the dog’s bodies, they talk like a human. Because of this, mine talk in my head constantly. They are still very innocent, but very funny. Of course, they usually start talking as I am trying to go to sleep.

A beautiful photo – I often wonder what goes through our cats minds too as they stare off into space. Mind you, knowing them they’re probably thinking about their next meal. MOL

I always wonder what mine are thinking about and wish they could talk back sometimes. Although, it is nice to always have such a wonderful listener.

That’s an awesome shot of Riley. I always wonder what they are thinking about. I caught Chuy doing this out in the yard yesterday and he looked so peaceful!
